People convicted of domestic abuse charges to sign a register

What the petition asks
I strongly believe that if an individual is charged with a domestic abuse crime they should sign a register similar to that of sex offenders. I believe that alongside a custodial sentence this could contribute to some form of justice.
According to the Crime Survey for England & Wales in the year ending March 2018, an estimated 7.9% of women (1.3 million) and 4.2% of men (695,000) experienced domestic abuse in the last year. I want to make it a legal requirement that people convicted of domestic abuse crimes must sign a register.
Domestic abuse can be a life changing offence that can cause huge emotional trauma and contribute to long term mental health issues. It is time it was taken more seriously.
