What the petition asks
Allow customers to make informed decision on which food items to buy by clearly stating on all packaging how much effect the item has on the planet. This will encourage companies to take action and compete to reduce their emissions whilst allowing customers to be more conscious of their impact.
Companies such as Oatly have already started doing this proving that it is a plausible demand which could have a significant impact on how companies take action on the climate crisis.
The food industry is one of the biggest contributors to global warming so needs to be held accountable. The way in which an item is grown, packaged, or transported will effect how much impact it has on our planet.
Companies are required to state the nutritional effect on our health so why not the health of our planet?
