What the petition asks
I am a teacher and mother of 3 children, all of whom are school age. I have always been aware of the inflated prices for booking holidays or flights during the school holidays and rather than these coming in line with term time prices, they have been increasing.
Many families cannot afford to take their children away, or have to consider the repercussions of taking their children out of school to have a more affordable holiday.
Educators know that good attendance equals a better attainment and therefore higher standards and I propose that if families were encouraged to holiday during the allocated times with more reasonably priced holidays, attendance and attainment could improve.
