Provide grant assistance for electric vehicle conversions

Closed 347 signatures

What the petition asks

Converting an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle to electric is expensive, but there are many advantages including reduced running costs and reliance on fossil fuels, reduced vehicle servicing costs, and improvement in air quality and a cleaner environment. ICE engines can be recycled.
Converting the millions of ICE cars and vans on UK roads to electric will contribute to the Climate Challenge and with lower fuel and annual servicing costs will save a great deal of money for the consumer.
With increasing numbers of people converting their vehicles, more garages and service centres will be able to offer the service and jobs can be created.
The costs of the batteries, motors etc. are steadily falling, but this cost reduction needs additional financial stimulation to accelerate.
