Stop MPs claiming back their TV licence on expenses

Rejected 16 signatures

What the petition asks

With the BBC about to stop at least half of all over 75 years old pensioners getting free TV licences, is it fair that MPs should be able to claim it back?
removing this allowance from MPs would save over £100,000 and bring back some fairness into the TV licence at a time when pensioners are struggling financially

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
