What the petition asks
Packaging. How long does it take for different sorts of plastic, including plasticised paper, to biodegrade and become safe in the environment. We are told many half truths, or not told at all. Consumers should have the right to be able to make informed decisions about their purchases.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand you're concerned about the biodegradability of packaging but we're not sure exactly what information you want to be on packaging or to which types of packaging this would apply.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
There's already a petition about labelling of plastic packaging, which you might like to sign if it calls for something you'd like to happen.
Require all manufacturers to identify plastics used, to aid with recycling.
