Review the way in which our criminal justice system handles rape cases.

What the petition asks
Only 6% of all sexual related offences end in criminal prosecution. This is not enough. So many survivors are put through hell in the aftermath whilst they are made to prove their truths. It’s almost impossible to prove without physical evidence & even then it’s not guaranteed. This needs to change.
The emotional distress caused from the prosecution process often only worsens the survivor’s mental state. Things need to change. Support needs to be offered to all survivors and all should have an equal chance to fight for justice. Many times survivors can’t prove their case. But all should be given the chance to tell the court their story despite lack of physical evidence. Survivors lost their voices once already... The least they deserve is the chance to feel in control again by being heard.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand you're concerned about how the criminal justice system deals with rape cases but the Government has already announced "a review of the criminal justice response to rape and serious sexual offences", so we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
You can find out more about the Government's review, which is one of ten key commitments made in its "refresh" of its violence against women and girls strategy, here:

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
