What the petition asks
Our planet has a climate emergency. The 2018 report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change states the need for radical CO2 emission reductions over the next 11 years. The UK Parliament has declared a climate emergency. The licensing of future fossil fuel extraction cannot be justified.
