Petition · past parliament

Extend maternity leave and pay to include the third trimester.

Rejected 18 signatures

What the petition asks

In order to prepare and rest for birth and postpartum, expectant working mums should be entitled to leave and pay during the third trimester.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand you're concerned about maternity leave and pay for expectant mothers during their third trimester, but statutory maternity leave and pay can already start from 11 weeks before the due date, so we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We're not sure if you also want to change the total period of statutory maternity leave and pay and, if so, exactly how you want to change it.

You can find out more about the current rules here:

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
