Rejected

What the petition asks
We want to introduce a "One Punch Manslaughter Law"with a 5-10 year sentence minimum, instead of 2-10 years - The average being 3. Australia introduced the “Coward’s Punch Manslaughter Law, with a 10 year mandatory minimum.
We need the government to listen to your stories and recognise the seriousness and devastation of one punch. We cannot achieve this without your support.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
The law on manslaughter already allows a maxiumum sentence of life imprisonment. We're not sure exactly what further action you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You could start a new petition asking the Government to make unlawful act manslaughter carry a minimum sentence of 10 years, if thats something you'd like to see happen.
