What the petition asks
When the Prime Minister changes in power the ruling party should not be allowed to use internal membership to choose the new leader of the country.
The leader of the party plays a large role in who forms a goverment.
The leader of the party plays a large role in who forms a goverment.
This complaint has been raised against Labour and the Conservatives.
People in the majority vote for the leader and party. Whilst they maybe voters for the party they are not members, so they are not included in this leadership change. Nor is the country and does bring into question the democracy of the choice.
We should separate leadership of party from leadership of the country
