Create a new Public Holiday specifically for planting trees

Closed 426 signatures

What the petition asks

The Government’s Committee on Climate Change (CCC) recommends 116 sq miles of new trees need to be planted every year until 2050 to help meet the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions net-zero target, stating, "The government needs to develop a strategy to meet the... target and it needs to happen quickly."
As the UK has the fewest public holidays of any G20 country, we are calling for the Government to help mobilise the British people to deliver on its climate change commitments with a new public holiday specifically for planting trees.
