What the petition asks
In 2018 the government introduced Animal Welfare Licensing of Activities Involving Animals (England) 2018. Unfortunately this did not include residential dog trainers, or day centre dog trainers or any party training a dog in the absence of the owner. Dogs can suffer emotionally as a result.
Dogs can suffer in residential and dog training day schools due to punitive training methods. Dog trainers were excluded from regulation so nobody assesses conditions of residential or day training centres, or ensures trainers are appropriately qualified and adhering to the Animal Welfare Act (2006).
We request that residential, dog training day schools or, any party who trains dogs without the owner, be included in Animal Welfare Licensing of Activities Involving Animals legislation.
