What the petition asks
The hostile environment has led to an increase in anxiety, depression and PTSD affecting African and Caribbean community of the Windrush Generation and their dependants. Furthermore this has caused premature death and increased morbidity of this generation in the UK, Caribbean and Africa.
Based on current experience and trends over the last 30 years there will be a marked increase in the Windrush Generation accessing mental health services at a later stage, which could lead to more sectioning under the Mental Health Act, poor health outcomes, and further loss of human rights and dignity. We require a national mental health and wellbeing programme around the post-traumatic impact of the hostile environment.
