John Bercow - Allow for emergency debates in case of prorogued parliament.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

The speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow, has the ability to enact Standing Order 24 to ensure for emergency debates, regardless of a prorogued parliament. Doing so will help ensure a no-deal brexit is not passed.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

SO No 24 debates can only take place on days on which the House of Commons is sitting, so cannot be scheduled when Parliament is prorogued.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
