Make it the law that a child has to be in a car seat when travelling in a taxi

Closed 23 signatures

What the petition asks

Did you know that if you are travelling in a taxi with a child, a car seat is not required!

A taxi is still a vehicle, just because they put a ‘taxi roof sign’ on - it doesn’t mean they are protected from collisions and fatalities! The current law has no consideration for child safety.
The current laws and regulations in place are as follows:

children under three can travel without a child’s car seat or seat belt, but only on a rear seat.

children aged three or older can travel in a rear seat without a child’s car seat if they wear an adult seat belt.

The driver can be fined up to £500 if a child under 14 isn't in the correct car seat or wearing a seat belt while you're driving.
