Uphold the convention where the speaker of the house's seat is uncontested

What the petition asks
This government wishes to break the convention where the speaker of the house's seat is uncontested at a General Election. We, the undersigned, call that this convention is upheld by the current government at any upcoming election to ensure the continuity of scrutiny during the Brexit process.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
This is a matter for political parties rather than the Government or Parliament as a whole.
The current Speaker of the House of Commons has announced his intention to step down at the next election or on 31 October 2019, whichever is sooner.
