Create minimum requirements for prospective MPs to stand for election
Rejected
16 signatures
What the petition asks
The minimum requirement to stand for election as an MP should be that the proposed candidate would have spent at least 2 years working in the NHS/education/police/military/emergency services or ran a successful business employing 10 people for 10 years.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
The selection of candidates to stand for parliament is the responsibility of political parties and not the UK Government or Parliament as a whole.
