Strengthen application process for Licences to Fell to protect woodlands

What the petition asks
Property Developers can use a Forestry Commission Licence to Fell to clear woodland and its wildlife in order to gain planning permission to build. Applications are placed on the FC Public Register for 28 days but local authorities are not notified or consulted directly so often remain unaware
The application process for Licences to Fell should be strengthened by the Forestry Commission:
1. informing and consulting with local authorities and other stakeholders;
2. requiring evidence of wildlife surveys prior to issue of Licences
3. introducing a more robust inspection and enforcement system that monitors adherence to the Licence conditions and imposes stronger sanctions for breaches.
