What the petition asks
Make it illegal for a police force to not investigate child abuse/grooming allegations in a secure manner with a trained safeguarding specialist.
A recorded/fully documented interview must take place within two months of initial contact and accessed only by safeguarding teams. Reasons below.

Too many allegations of grooming and abuse in the UK are constantly swept under the carpet and not even documented at initial police contact.
This has also led to many whistleblowers being comprised, particularly in smaller towns and communities.
As part of this proposed law, a person could call 101 or walk into a police station asking to be interview by an officers specialised in child safeguarding and/or abuse.
By doing this we help prevent any incompetence, misunderstanding and corruption.

Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
If concerns about child abuse are reported to the police, they have a duty to investigate and the case will be dealt with by a specialist child abuse investigation team. Citizens Advice have published some information about how the police investigate allegations. You can find out more here:
