Petition · past parliament
Raise the standard of behaviour in the House - require MPs to listen silently.

What the petition asks
The standard of behaviour in the HoC is not acceptable. It should not be necessary for the Speaker to have to repeatedly yell "Order!" over heckling and baying during speeches. This disrespectful behaviour would not be tolerated in formal discussions anwhere else, and sets an appalling example.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can only accept petitions which call for actions that are the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament. The Speaker of the House of Commons is responsible for maintaining order in the House of Commons, not the UK Government or Parliament as a whole.
