Petition · past parliament

Form a government of national unity to extend article 50 & call an election.

Closed 39 signatures

What the petition asks

This petition seeks the formation of a government of national unity with the aim of extending article 50 and then immediately calling a general election.
Whilst the outcome of the referendum must be respected, exiting the EU without a deal poses a serious risk to the economy of the UK and the welfare of its residents. Although Parliament has passed the Benn Bill, it is far from clear that the government will honour both the letter and the spirit of this bill. Therefore to eliminate the risk of a no-deal exit from the EU, a new government is needed to protect the people of the UK from the unquantified risks associated with no-deal.
