Statue for John Hume in parliament square
Rejected
11 signatures
What the petition asks
John Hume served his life in Northern Ireland to create civil rights for all and was an instigator for peace and the signing of the Good Friday Agreement. There can be no other political figure in the late 20th century who wielded a greater impact not only in the UK but in global politics.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can't accept your petition because the granting of planning permission in Parliament Square is a matter for Westminster City Council and not the UK Government or Parliament.
