Keep BBC red button text: scrapping it is discrimination against deaf & disabled

What the petition asks

Red button text has NO alternatives.
Disabled people weren't consulted & are discriminated against.BBC is totally unaware how many people totally rely on red button text
People affected- all without internet,hard of hearing,deaf,hyperacusis/autism, with cognitive problems or finding TV too fast

Equality law (the new Disability Discrimination Act) requires public services & institutions to be accessible to all.It is clearly being broken.With the service gone there are no alternatives via TV screens, which have larger text, no flicker & darker colors than computers, and yet we disabled people must pay the license fee. More people use red button text than the sign language programs,which aren't at risk.The BBC can easily afford to keep the service by reducing pay to major stars.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

The BBC is an independent body governed by a Royal Charter. Under the terms of that Charter, the BBC is operationally and editorially independent of government and there is no provision for the government to intervene in the BBC’s day-to-day operations.
