Referendum on staying in or leaving the European Economic Area (EEA)

Closed 114 signatures

What the petition asks

Parliament has had the option to accept or reject continued membership of the EEA, but the public have not.
It is a critical decision in the shaping of our future relationship with the EU.
Leaving the EU was decided by referendum, so leaving the EEA should be decided in the same democratic way.
We are still signatories to the EEA agreement, which is a separate treaty to EU membership and have yet to give the formal 12 month notice for leaving.

Surveys show strong support for remaining in the EEA.
