What the petition asks

There have been a number of media reported cases of wheelchair users being able to travel as other passengers refused to move. Legislation is required to address this & make the area wheelchair only priority. Giving power for bus driver to remove people & items from area so a wheelchair can use it.

Wheelchair users don't have priority access to wheelchair spaces provided on buses, despite this being the only safe space for wheelchair user to travel. The drivers have no legal power to force other passengers to move & can still only request that they do so. This is detrimental to wheelchair uses & has a significant impact on travel. A number of times wheelchair uses are left unable get on or face abuse from other passengers that where in that area. This area should be only for wheelchairs.
