Osteopaths are allied healthcare professionals regulated by the general osteopathic council in the UK. Osteopaths study at degree level to become primary healthcare practitioners assessing and treating a wide range of conditions in various patient groups. Prescribing may enhance osteopathic practice
In the UK, Physiotherapist, Paramedics, Pharmacist and podiatrist are all on the list of professionals that may undergo further training to be able to prescribe a list of medications to further support patients in their role. It would enhance osteopaths ability to support patients without the need of intervention from medical professionals in some cases. Osteopaths study disease and dysfunction at length along side the ability to assess and investigate patients conditions to form a diagnosis and treatment plan.
