What the petition asks
The Government should fund the creation of an annual “Beach clean up day”, this should include funding awareness raising campaigns and the organisation of the beach clean.
This day would highlight the damage that waste has on our environment, how waste endangers species around our coastline and how waste affects us by entering the food chain.
Living by the sea I notice all the rubbish washed up at each high tide. All of it is man made and most of it is plastic. it pollutes the sea, makes beaches unpleasant and worst of all gets eaten by the animals that live in and around the seaside. The animals suffer and so do we because we now know that tiny particles of plastic are getting in to the food chain.
