Make enhanced DBS for private childcare providers mandatory and safeguarding

Rejected 13 signatures

What the petition asks

I’m a qualified early years educator. I have changed my career and become a private nanny. I have met so many nannies working without a DBS and basic safeguarding knowledge. The government should look more in to private sector and tackle safeguarding. Children are vulnerable and need to be protected

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

People who want to look after children for a living already need to have an enhanced check with barred lists from the Disclosure and Barring Service, so we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You can find out more about the current rules here:

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do, for example a petition calling for a review of the DBS checking system for private childcare providers, including nannies, if that's something you'd like to happen.
