Make workplace bullying illegal.

Closed 248 signatures

What the petition asks

Workplace bullying is a form of discrimination and harassment but is not recognised as a specific issue by the Courts and only serious cases can be investigated by the police.
Bullying has the same detrimental effect on mental health and well-being as other forms of discrimination and harassment and should be treated as seriously.

Currently, employer grievance processes are weighted in favour of the employer to protect them.

An employee currently has nowhere to turn for independent investigations and judgments, forcing them to be the victim of unfair or constructive dismissal before a court can intervene.

If bullying is made a criminal offence unions, ACAS etc should have the legal power to intervene and hold employers accountable alongside the police and the courts.
