Sol’s Law – Create a new offence and tougher penalties for attacking animals.

Closed 1,967 signatures

What the petition asks

Currently, animals who are attacked killed or stabbed are classed as owned property because they are pets, regarding them as criminal damage meaning attackers are only able to be sentenced for a couple of months. Animals are not property. A new offence is needed to enable a tougher sentences.
In 2018 my horse Sol was stabbed 16 times. In court the judges hands were tied to only sentencing the maximum of two months because I own Sol, classing him as criminal damage. No proper protection or punishment is in place for harming animals, and animal offences have risen drastically. With the appropriate sentence, it’ll reduce future attacks because the right punishment is in place. Criminal damage is if I took a brick and threw it through a car window. It doesn’t come close to hurting animals.
