What the petition asks
As a new business opening on the high street I would like to see more support given to independent small family businesses like our. Businesses that will create foot fall into the high street. As a business with a community ethos, an aim to be carbon neutral and also reduce food and packaging waste.
I would like to see a review of business rates, including a rate free period that allows new tenants to fit out their shop without being stung with full commercial rates as their building is classed as unoccupied.
We were charged £798 for 1 month due to this legislation. We had applied for the help with reducing our commercial rates, this was in place and meant it would be £143 per month. This additional charge we were not told about means we now have no cooker!? We are a food business!
