What the petition asks
Give parents the option to keep our children at home during the Covid-19 outbreak. Those who wish to keep their children at home whilst the outbreak is ongoing should be given the option to do so without facing penalty.
We want to keep our children and families safe during the outbreak. As cases rise in the U.K., the possibility of our children catching the virus is becoming increasingly likely. Some of us have immunocompromised family members and most of us have elderly family who we need to protect. Parents should be given the option to keep our children at home safe without facing backlash or fines.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can't accept your petition because it's about something the Government and Parliament is not responsible for. Decisions about whether to take action to enforce school attendance are taken by local councils and schools.
You could start a petition calling on the Government to passing legislation to prevent schools or local authorities from taking action against parents who have kept their children at home because of the COVID-19 outbreak
