What the petition asks
A minimum age limit on all social media. All social media channels including but not exclusive to, Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok & Snapchat. When a child becomes 16 they can then have an account where they are "mentored" by a responsible adult and usage monitored until they are 18.
Since the invention of social media, for all its positives it hides many negatives. The exposure of children to sex offenders, the inhability to switch off, bullying through being unable to ever escape(our houses used to be safe havens), negative imagery. The tracking ability of some of these apps, enabling stalking. The fact that media/advertising can send adult targeted ads to children through it sales programs. Finally Fake news, its full of untruths. Its a public health crisis, police it.
