Temporarily relax the rules around school absences during the COVID19 outbreak
Rejected

What the petition asks
Allow parents to voluntarily remove their children from school without penalty during the current COVID19 outbreak, in order that they can avoid individual infection as well as protect siblings, parents and other, possibly vulnerable, family and community members from onward virus transmission.
Transmission of infectious diseases in schools is well documented. Due to different resource circumstances, schools provide varying degrees of 'safe environments' for children at this time.
Parents with alternative childcare/home school options should be encouraged to avoid the additional risk that attending school represents for infection of their child(ren), as well as for onward transfer of COVID19 to other - possibly vulnerable - members of the family and other members of the community.
