Demand UBI so people can afford to stay at home during the Covid-19 pandemic

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Demand that the UK Government sets up a Universal Basic Income (UBI) scheme as part of the emergency measures which would mean that people will be paid to stay home to enforce lockdown to help the situation.
It’s all well and good extending SSP but this doesn’t help people who ARENT sick and then get placed in lockdown, or self employed businesses who have lost work or will lose money from being in lockdown, in a situation that no one could have prepared for.
That way, if people had a basic income to cover their household bills it would be easier for them to stay at home and lockdown imposed like it should be.
