Extend SSP to cover workers with dependents during COVID-19

What the petition asks

The forced isolation of the elderly and school closures many families with dependents will be forced into financial hardship, as many will have to stop work to care for family. We call on our government to provide financial aid, to those with caring responsibilities throughout this time.

Many people will find themselves without an income, currently under legislation workers are allowed time off work to care for dependents but this is unpaid leave.

Allowing those with caring duties paid time off during this time would mean many families not forced into making some very difficult decisions due to financial worries and meaning those isolated could receive proper care from family members.

Why it was rejected

There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.
