Petition · past parliament

Get the UK Government to test everyone with COVID19 symptoms.

Rejected 19 signatures

What the petition asks

The UK government should start testing those with COVID19 symptoms, including NHS healthcare workers to screen for the virus. The government have only tested those who are admitted to hospital with symptoms since Thursday 12th March 2020. The confirmed figure in the UK is therefore incorrect.
I would like the government to ensure that all those with symptoms including NHS healthcare workers are tested for the virus as this is not currently offered to anyone other than those who have been admitted to hospital. The confirmed virus cases recorded are incorrect. This information is important as it helps to track the rate of the pandemic and the virus behaviour. Without this, the correct measures for emergency response to the pandemic and future treatment cannot be adequately made.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The conduct of tests is a clinical decision for the NHS, not the UK Government or Parliament.

We have published a petition calling for the Government to provide publicly accessible testing for coronavirus around the UK, which you might want to sign: Provide publicly accessible testing for the covid-19 virus around the UK now.
