Shops should only be open to elderly for an hour first.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Id like it aswell as others to make sure that shops like tesco and aldi etc are open for an hour but only for the elderly people.
Because everybody is scared of COVID-19 and there are people who are bulk buying everything they can to survive. But there are elderly people who matter the most who cant buy anything as theres nothing left. Its not just elderly people who need it theres people who struggle to survive or have issues what can affect them more if they get COVID-19

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

The opening arrangements for supermarkets are a matter for individual retailers, not the Government or Parliament. A number of retailers have announced plans to open early for elderly or vulnerable customers. You should contact your local supermarket to find out if they have put such arrangements in place.

The Government has made certain changes to enable supermarkets to work together during the coronavirus outbreak, particularly to serve customers who are elderly, ill or vulnerable: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/supermarkets-to-join-forces-to-feed-the-nation
