Rejected
17 signatures
What the petition asks
We want to add veganism as a protected characteristic to The Equality Act 2010
To not be discriminated against by employers or potential employers because of our beliefs and values. Bullying and prejudice is happening in workplaces all around the UK because of our beliefs and values.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
The courts have ruled that ethical veganism is a philosophical belief which qualifies as a protected belief within the meaning of Section 10 of the Equal Act 2010, so is already protected under this legislation.
