What the petition asks

Many people will suffer at the hands of rent and bills during this corona virus pandemic. Many are on hand to mouth and zero contracts and with many venues, restuarants and other businesses having to shut down or isolate people then there are many out there not earning.

The government should halt as many mortgages, rents, evictions and bills as possible and support the people and businesses affected by the new restrictions. This is a once in a century problem and the government are perceived as not doing enough to support the people, this would be a huge step to support the most at risk as well as the ever worrying population.
I have heard already of threats made to renters that are already struggling to pay rent due to the impact of the virus already.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because suspending payments for rent and utility bills is a matter for individual landlords, and utility companies and not the UK Government or Parliament.
