Start a trial of Chloroquine as a treatment for Coronavirus

What the petition asks
Following on from research in Australia, we call on the UK government to trial Chloroquine as a treatment for infected persons who have contracted Covid-19. This treatment is readily available, cheap to produce, and is patent-free.
Initial results show that it can improve outcomes but requires controlled tests. This compound is an anti malarial and is even available over the counter. We request that the Chief Medial Officer and the Prime Minister urgently begin a controlled trial of this treatment in patients who test positive for Covid-19 in the UK.

Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
Decisions on treatments are a matter for doctors, in conjunction with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
