Make SSP and SMP enough to cover bills

Rejected 11 signatures

What the petition asks

At the moment statutory pay for sickness and maternity is 98 pound and 148 pound respectively. This is not enough to live on with the raising cost of living and with so many people being forced to self isolate and taking maternity early. We need to make living on these payments possible.
This self isolation will cause people to get into debt and arrears with rent. As this is an inforced isolation by the government statutory payments should be made so that people can live on

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We understand that you want the Government to increase Statutory Sick Pay and Statutory Maternity Pay, but it's not clear what you mean by making it enough to cover bills.

We have already published a petition calling on the Government to Increase Statutory Sick Pay, which you might like to sign: Increase Statutory Sick Pay

You could start a new petition calling on the Government to increase Statutory Maternity Pay.

We have also published a number of other petitions calling on the Government to take action to prevent financial hardship to individuals.
