Prevent Airlines/Travel agents charging extortionate re-booking fee & fare diff.

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

A law preventing Airline companies and Travel agents charging extortionate re-booking fees and fare difference at least during crisis times such as COVID-19 or any global crisis times. There should be a regulated flat re-booking fee for all and a very strong regulation for charging fare difference.
Travel agents and Airline companies take unfair advantage especially during crisis times and charge extortionate amount as fare difference and booking fees.
Due to COVID-19 I couldn't travel as planned and I was given only one option to re-book with new dates by paying fare difference. My original tkt cost £1,219 but when I checked new dates the price were £1,578 which means I shouldn't be paying more than £400 still I've been quoted £1,039 to pay as fare difference.
THIS EXTORTION NEEDS TO STOP

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Arrangements for changing or rebooking travel are a matter for individual airlines and travel agents, not the Government or Parliament.

We have published a petition calling on the Government to create a fund to reimburse money lost due to covid-19 travel cancellations, which you might like to sign: Create a fund to reimburse money lost due to covid-19 travel cancellations
