Extend Brexit transition period in light of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic
Rejected
12 signatures
What the petition asks
The Brexit transition period, which is due to end on 31st December 2020, must be extended indefinitely to allow the UK and EU to ensure their full focus is on tackling the current coronavirus pandemic.
Talks to agree a UK-EU trade deal have been put on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak. The timeline to strike a trade deal was already operating on a tight schedule. In light of the ongoing crisis it will now be even more difficult to reach to a trade agreement while diverting the energy and resources of both UK and EU politicians and civil servants away from tackling the biggest threat we have faced in our lifetimes.
