Allow students on a Tier 4 visa to remain in the UK after visa expiry: COVID-19

Rejected 15 signatures

What the petition asks

HM government and the Home Office to make provisions to allow current Tier 4 Student Visa holders to remain in the UK post visa - to prevent situations where students are removed from the UK and rejected entry from their home country because of travel restrictions due to COVID-19.
This would, in simple terms:

- allow international students to remain in the UK and continue to contribute to the society and economy;

- ensure the UK remains on a competitive footing in attracting international students;

- minimise the amount of travelling of international students which aligns with the government's advice of social distancing;

- to prevent further spread of COVID-19 to students' home countries.

Why it was rejected

The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.
