What the petition asks
Final year performing arts students to receive an overall bachelors degree based on credits already accumulated.
This current international pandemic means focus on academic studies is undeniably difficult. Limited access to the resources needed for creative subjects subsequently correlates to lower quality dissertations and final performances. We should not be graded at the same level as previous years when our situation places us at an immediate disadvantage.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
Decisions about university teaching, assessments and exams are a matter for individual universities, and decisions about university admissions are a matter for individual universities and UCAS, not the UK Government or Parliament.
If you have concerns about admissions you should raise these with UCAS, and if you have concerns about your university's arrangements for teaching and assessment you should raise these with your university or the Office for Students, which regulates the higher education sector.
