What the petition asks

Due to the effects of the Coronavirus, it will help if all Council tax and utility bill payments could be stopped to help everyone through this difficult time.

So that the general public do not have to worry as much about buying food and the essentials they need to get through this difficult period. Unfortunately statutory sick pay and in many cases no pay at all will leave most in a very difficult position.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Suspending payments for council tax, mortgages, utilities and loans is a matter for individual councils, mortgage providers, utility providers and lenders, and not the UK Government or Parliament.
