What the petition asks
Appeal to government to allow individual university students to terminate their individual tenancies for accommodation that has been rented for the purpose of their studies.
For rent payments to be ceased/cancelled/refunded in accordance with when the new end of tenancy is agreed.
For rent payments to be ceased/cancelled/refunded in accordance with when the new end of tenancy is agreed.
COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in many students moving out of their student accommodation, but they are still bound to pay often thousands of pounds of rent for unoccupied accommodations.
Many students have been strongly recommended to return home by their universities.
Many universities are continuing teaching online.
Many universities exams are to be done remotely.
We would also like consideration of financial support for landlords who would be affected by these tenancy changes.
