What the petition asks

Please stop the traditional economy for an interim period while Covid-19 escalates. Stop all debts, mortgages, staff payments: stop everything. Provide a basic payment to all UK citizens to cover food, medicine and basic needs.

To save the next generation from the debt of propping up the entire system for several months while we try to tackle Covid-19.

To stop the majority of the leisure industry going bankrupt.

To support families and ultimately to save lives.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We understand that you want the Government to take action to mitigate the impact of coronavirus on the economy, but we can only accept petitions that make a clear request from the Government for a specific action.
